Registration and Validation

All competitors, referees, coaches and officials, as in past editions, will have to register in Sportdata. The registrations close on 10th November of 2018, and you can find our competition on the link below:

The competition fees will be the ones set by the FWE:

Kata Individual entry Fee: 15€        

Kumite Individual entry Fee: 15€    

Kata Team entry Fee: 30€

Kumite Team Male Senior entry Fee: 50€

Other Kumite Team entry Fee: 50€

Only registrations made via Sportdata will be considered valid.

All registrations made in sport data will be considered for payment.

There will not be any last time entries.

If change in categories due to wrong insert in age or weight is necessary an additional cost of 10€ will have to be charged.

Payment can be made in cash on the tournament day.

If you wish to pay in advance the competition fees, you can do it to the following IBAN.

If you do, all participants that have made the payment in advance, until the 15.10.2018, will receive an offering upon registration validation.

On the 16^th of November the registration and validation of Competitors will take place in the HQ hotel from 14:00 until 20:00.

Please register all the Referees and Officials on Sportdata, as soon as possible.

All registered participations will be charged regardless of actual show or not.

Last minute changes due to wrong age or weight will be charged a extra changing fee of 10€.

The Venue - the actual place for the Wado Kai Cup

The competition will take place in the “Pavilhão Gimnodesportivo Municipal de Santarém”. It is the best existing sports facilities in Santarém. It offers good conditions for sports events, functioning as a training facility for several different sports and teams. It has been the place of some Karate competitions in the past, as well as other major sports events taking place in the city.

            We will have 6 Tatamis for the competition day and a Warm-Up Area.

Accommodation - Where to stay in Santarem

            In terms of accommodation there are several Hotels in Santarem and they are all informed of the event. Inform that you are booking for this event as they may have some discounts or special conditions for you. This will depend on the Hotel policies. The organization of the Cup does not have active part in establishing hotel prices or other conditions.

However, we do recommend that you to stay in the organization HQ Hotel, the “Santarém Hotel”, since this is one of our official sponsors and this is where the organization will be based in logistic terms of transport, coordination and support.

The HQ hotel will be the "Santarém Hotel" which is a 4 stars unit and official sponsor to the event. It is the biggest and best equipped Hotel in the city. It is about 20m walking distance from the Venue where the Euro Cup will take place. 

This is also where the meeting and pre-event activities will take place, and also the “Sayonara Party”.

Directions to Santarem

The nearest airport is the Lisbon Airport.

From Lisbon airport you can get a subway connection to “Gare do Oriente” where you can find easy connections via Bus or train to “Santarém”.

We advise the use of the train as it is faster and more frequent in terms of connections.

About the city of Santarem in Portugal

Santarém is a small city overseeing the Tagus river, and not far away from Lisbon, about 70km, with more or less 62200 inhabitants.

            Santarém had an important role in Portuguese History. It is full of History and rich in architecture. Especially the Gothic architecture in religious monuments as it is considered the “Gothic capital of Portugal”. It is also famous for horses and bull fithting and in recent times it was from here that the revolution that led to democracy in Portugal was initiated.

Welcome Message from our President

Dear Wado-Kai Friends,

It is our pleasure to invite you to the 46^th European Wado Kai Cup on the next 16^th and 17^th of November 2018 in Santarém – Portugal.

For us AKWK, and especially for me, it’s an honor and a pleasure to organize, for the first time, this competition in Portugal and in our home city, Santarém.

Santarém is a beautiful old city, full of history and overseeing the Tejo river and the prairies of the Ribatejo. If you have time please enjoy it, I’m sure you will be delighted and very welcomed here.

For more than a decade we (Associação de Karate Wado Kai) have been a member of the FWE and we have participated in all of the championships during this period of time. By doing it we have developed our Karate, but, we have also made friends, while getting to know little pieces of cities and countries around Europe. We have developed friendships and a better understanding of the world through our contact with the other wado Groups and their Nations.

During my many years of practice, since the 80’s, I hoped that one day our Wado Kai Group in Portugal could arrange such a prestigious event.

I finally have the pleasure of seeing it. We are very proud to finally be able to host the European Wado Kai Cup and we hope it goes smoothly and is enjoyable to all. We expect, good attitude, honorable competition and efficient organization. This is our objective and what we are aiming for; and our team will do their best to achieve it and make it happen.

Let’s make this competition a great one, not just one more time, let’s make it excellent and memorable to all that participate in it. We want this Euro Cup to be a great experience that all wish to repeat in the future, and for that, we are counting with you to be present and contribute to it; as athletes, referees, coaches or just supporters of your team. Everyone shall be thinking about joining us in this competition, and I’m looking forward to welcoming you all here in Portugal, in Wado friendship; and may this be a high point of the European Wado life during 2018.
